julie and brian – the wedding

30 Oct

A couple of months ago, I was lucky enough to do an engagement shoot for Julie and Brian. I always feel so privileged when I get asked to shoot a wedding for a client after shooting an engagement portrait for them. It is wonderful to see how relationships have progressed from the giddy and excited time of engagement to the emotional and all consuming wedding day.

It was surprisingly calm in the bride’s dressing room that day, everyone was working hard on doing up those tiny gorgeous buttons. If you’re nervous, forget it – those buttons can challenge the nerves of any bride! Julie, however, was so relaxed she could have been hanging out sipping a mai tai:

Isn’t she gorgeous? Again, that amazing hair – but I digress….

And how awesome is her pink slip, and those shoes? Loving the hot pink:

As far as ceremonies go, this one was outstanding! There was a last minute change of plan from an outside wedding to inside, as the snow started to fall. Unfazed, it went off without a hitch and was incredibly moving. Two exceptional singers had the entire congregation in tears with their incredible voices. When they hit their first note, there was a stunned silence from everyone and you could have heard a pin drop – I was not the only one trying to remain composed while they finished their songs. And it kept getting better from there, with heart-felt vows and shaky-handed ring exchanges:

The snow was kind enough to have stopped in time for some portraits. I love this one of Brian, he was so happy and proud to be Julie’s husband and it really showed:

Rounded off with a rocking reception, for a rocking couple:

Julie and Brian, thank you for trusting me with your wedding. I hope that the pictures show your wonderful sense of fun and the beauty of your love for one another.

This little guy stole my  heart when I did this shoot. He was fiesty, and determined and suspicious and delicious!!!

Collin was just a shade under 1 year old, and just about to become an independent walker. He was keeping his mom busy back then, I can’t even imagine how busy she is now!

So here is the suspicious:

And I think you will agree that here is the delicious:

Where does he get those killer good looks from? Why his mommy of course, meet Tina:

Tina, Collin is so precious and I loved seeing how much fun the two of you have together – thank you for sharing your world with me for a few hours.

You know that feeling you get when you meet a couple who are so happy and right for each other that you can’t help but feel happy and relaxed too? That is how it was with Julie and Brian. When I met them for coffee initially, I found that I could not help but get all excited about their wedding details with them!

I was fortunate enough to spend some time with them on an engagement shoot a couple of months ago. It was such a beautiful day and Julie and Brian were really excited to be there, even though it was the crack of dawn – what can I say folks, they’re good sports! They bought along their sweet sweet puppy dog Bella, who shot all over the show at the speed of light, bounding through the fields just happy to be alive. Don’t you sometimes wish you were a puppy, just for a day?

Never one to be left out, Bella tries to get in on the action:

I had total and utter hair-envy with Julie. What can I say, the girl has GOT IT:

I love this shot, the light was so beautiful that day:

This shot reminded me of Bella, boundless energy and exuberance around each other:

Speaking of puppies, can you get enough of this cutie? Bella was the perfect model (when she was still long enough), and she was quite the fashionista with the bandanas. What a beautiful dog, I could have taken pictures of her all day long:
